Titli
Astounded to know such a
robust parallel stream is flowing in its richness across the Bollywood film
industry. A master literary work can surpass all contemporary hindrances and
stream across borders beating time. The root being its details signifying life
in its details, of the sound and fury, expressing its purity and oneness with
its subtleness. The symbols glorifying all the duality of existence and
questioning what is bad and what is good.
Titli which means
butterfly, felt to me visualizing a master piece literary work than a movie.
The volatility and violence of society and that lies in every nuke and corner
of the society below the surface is portrayed through the lives of four male
members of a family. The father and 3 brothers live as if they have a genuine
life and craving to push for another day are visible in their eyes. Presence of
their grandfather’s portrait also appears as a character throughout the
movie.
Kanu Behl needs courage
to think of such a movie genre in the midst of stardom Bollywood industry. The
disgusting spit is transferred from father to his elder brother and finally to
Titli showing least botheration nature of the society for others. A reverse
metaphor is stunningly implemented here by Kanu behl, disturbing the intake by hardcore
nausea.
Husband taking the wife
behind his motorbike, explains his wife how he got the name ‘’butterfly’’ leads
to a scene where she goes inside an apartment, hugs her lover and her shouting,
screaming in between sex is heard by him with impassive expression.
